New 2006 H3 owner in NJ
New to my wife actually.
She surprised the hell out of me last Sunday when we were window shopping for a used replacement vehicle for her PT Cruiser GT.
We were shopping for a small crossover style vehicle when all of a sudden she says she wants a Hummer.....Whaaaattt
Mind you, she never, ever mentioned this as even a remote possibility in the past.
I always liked the body style of the H3 so I was more than pleasantly surprised when she stated her "dream vehicle".
Literally half hour later(no joke) we found an H3 at a local Chrysler dealer and went back on Monday to negitiate.
I found this forum and made some notes of what I should be looking out for, great information btw.
It is an early Vin# so I was worried about the head issues.
I called the local Hummer dealer that it was originally purchased at and the service manager was able to give me the vehicle maintenance history which included a new throttle body and complete head replacement last summer.
The service manager went out of his way to tell me what to look for including the clogged moonroof drains(already knew that from this forum).
He did recommend that if I buy the vehicle that I get a 4x4 service to replace all the fluids as he didn't see it as ever being done at their dealer.
They want $485 for it which sound high so I might just do it myself.
A few days later(and some hard bargaining) and my wife drove it into the driveway last night.
It's Boulder Grey with lots of chome and has 82,000 miles on it, and it really is in excellent shape for the miles except both the chrome mirrors have a little road rash(scrapes) on them.
Probably look to replace the covers some how.
I have a 30 day "bumper to bumper" warranty through the dealer so I want to run this thing pretty hard the next few weeks to see if anything needs to be fixed.
Any other info from you guys is much appreciated.
Thanks,
Brian
