Default Need a new louver

So I was spraying my stock louver a glossy black to match color of my black h3. Right when I finished a piece of plastic bag I had put down to protect table top flew up from wind and landed on the paint job. I whipped off all the paint and started over in that one section no matter what I did it looked like crap because some paint stayed on. I then went and bought aircraft paint stripper that was supposedly meant for plastics. I figured I could strip it all off and get to bare plastic. The stripper softened the crap out of the plastic and deformed it. So I need a new louver to start over, how can I go about getting a stock louver? Also some months back I broke one of the clips so I figured I would get a new one anyways. I don't want the chrome crap though, I want the primer color one. Thanks.

I don't know what louver you are talking about but, that's what's wrong with most people that paint, NO PATIENCE!!!!!!!! You made a mistake (plastic blowing up on wet paint) you should have waited for it to dry completely, sanded it, primed it, and repainted it. End of problem!!!!! But now you wiped it, repainted it, stripped it, and ruined it. Now go buy a new one!!!!

I think he knows how it got messed up, he doesn't really need your play by play recap/critique. I looked online and all I can find is the chrome. I want to paint mine black too, let me know how it turns out. What kind of paint were you using?

Thanks for making me feel like crap... Just kidding you don't have the internet powers to do that. I broke one of the clips months ago when I was taking it off for something. So I didn't care too much, this was more of a test then an "I gotta get it right and have one shot". The hood louver is textured some what so your "waiting sanding and priming" would make it look weird and still look like crap in the end. I did sand it but it just ended up not looking well at all.

As for the others that have responded, I used krylon fusion it works really well and bonds to the plastic very well which lead to my problem. I might have been able to avoid the mess if I would have acetoned it right after the plastic touched the paint . Sadly I learned this a day after it happened from a krylon representative I considered doing it before talking to krylon but I didnt know what effect it might have on the plastic and needed confirmation from them. The paint drying times I found to be off by a little, the can says you can use item painted after 24 hours. I would say 48 hours because after one day, I found the painted area to seem kinda soft as if the paint was still not at full strength. I also found if you put a clear coat inbetween your paint layers you get more of a gloss. I was extremely happy with the result except for the messed up area. As soon as I receive a new one I will get to painting again in a more controlled environment. Thanks again to everyone that left useful information I will post pics in this thread or make a new one once I finish new one.

I considered going to dealer but the dealer is about a hour away and the people there are cheap. They would try to rip me off on a part that was gonna sit on the shelf in the parts department. So I just bought it from the gm parts direct site. I got it with shipping for just over 100 dollars so I am happy with the price. Now I just gotta get more paint so I can work on it when it comes.
