Need help in Tokyo! My first resurrection... Call it an exorcism with those wheels..
Disclaimer: I did not build the car as you see it! It was some Japanese guy with a fetish for chrome and wheels that are worthless. I have decided to resurrect this machine as no Hummer should suffer this fate. First 2 pictures are of the car, the 3rd is the goal.
Hi All, I just picked up an H3 in Japan. 1 problem, if you look at the wheels, you can see they are horrendous! I have been searching around and I really cannot find the answer to my question so I will ask. I will be using the car around Tokyo but will head up into the mountains for camping in the summer, and in the snow for winter. I don't care if I have to keep the truck on jack stands till I get new tires, but these are getting tossed. So to my questions
1.What tire/wheel size can I put on my H3 for that beefier look without a lift kit for now? I seem to see the majority going between 16-18 inch wheels with 35s wrapped around them. But my truck is stock, so was thinking 17s with 32s? My goal is to replicate the Euro Black H3. I will put the XD Rockstars on (Maybe played out in the US, but NOTHING in Japan!) Looking at the sizes I can get
SIZE OFFSET
17 x 8 +10, +35
17 x 9 -12
18 x 9 +0
Will any of these fit my STOCK H3? I will crank the TBars up to level for now.
2. I am not off-road expert. If I were to just walk into a shop and buy wheels, tires... Do I need spacers? What are the technical details I should be aware of? ie. +/-Offset, boar?
3. I am from Hawaii so been around offroading most of my childhood. I know Super Swampers and Micky Thompson. Any better tires out there? Nittos look really cool. Are they functional?
Since we are all here...
I am looking to put in and exhaust and intake for now. Was thinking Volant cold air for the intake and Magnaflow for the exhaust system. Any thoughts on this? Will change out the stock shocks with Bilsteine. I really wanted the Ranchos but it seems they are getting a bad rap on the forums.
Exhaust: http://www.summitracing.com/int/part...ew/make/hummer
Intake: http://www.summitracing.com/int/part...ew/make/hummer
Shocks: AutoAnything | Auto Accessories & Aftermarket Parts | Truck Accessories & Car Accessories - Floor Mats, Tonneau Covers & Car Covers
Thank you so much everyone!!! When I start my build, I will post updates till completion.
