Need advice for new tires and spare...
Hi all,
I will be moving from the stock 265s to 285/75/16 in a few weeks, but I'd like to only change 4 tires and keep the spare stock. I'd like to keep the spare for different reasons, one being $$$ (!!!) the other being that I'd like to keep my spare tire cover which I assume will not fit the 285s.
Do you guys think it could be a problem if for example, I had a flat tire and had to run to the shop with three 285s and one 265 for a few miles for a tire change?
thanks all for your help,
cheers,
JAM.

you should have no problem with putting a cover on a 285/75/16's because that is what comes stock with the adventure package and driving with the spare should have no effect on your driving what so ever for a couple reasons 1. tires are flexible 2. you can air down the larger tires 3. there are really only about 1 or 2 inches in height difference between the tires.

re: the cover, it is a hard cover (all black with HUMMER embossed in the middle, which came stock with my Lux H3). Not sure if it will work but it doesn't matter too much. There are a few foam cubes though to hold the stock 265 in place... maybe removing those will be enough to fit the 285...
Re: driving with 3x285s and 1x265, I understand it is just like 1" difference (32" to 33") but since the circumference changes, i'm a bit worried now to screw up something if I ever need to use the spare tire, just because I've been a cheap a$$! LOL

You won't have to worry as you won't be driving like that but a couple miles before you toast your T Case!
Are you nuts? You cannot drive even short distances with mismatched tire sizes. The H3 is full time 4x4. GM will void your warranty for pulling that maneuver.
Tell us all exactly how much you would air down the 3 big ones to match the little one? WTH? WOW!

Glad to see you're still posting stupid sh*t over here after you were banned from CHO. Perhaps you should own a Hummer before throwing out crappy advice that will ruin another persons truck moron!
