Navigation doesnt power on after jumping H2
#2
When you jumped it, you might have caused a momentary voltage spike or surge that blew out the fuse(s).
The fuse panel is a good place to start. Check fuse panel under the hood. The circuit is labeled RADIO when you look at the inside cover of the fuel box lid. (Lower right corner). If you have an inline fuse with your aftermarket nav unit, you may need to check that one as well.
Best way to deal with electrical issues is one system at a time.

FYR has good points. Also if you're not using your rig regularly to charge the battery maybe pick up a small trickle charger that way the battery is always charged. You can get them for decent prices anymore.

kudos everyone- i reseated the RADIO and RADIO AMP fuses and now it powers on ...funny thing though now it does turn OFF when I turn off the vehicle and get out haha. I have to press & hold the power button for it to turn off. Interesting....
Those trickle chargers look nice. question- can you leave them connected permanently or do I have to unhook it everytime I drive it?

You would want to unhook it because when you are running the motor, your alternator takes over the charging functions to your battery. I suppose if you wanted to get creative, you could fabricate some kind of "hard line" wiring from the battery to the frame of your rig. Then when you get home, all you'd have to do is plug in your charger for the trickle unit to engage. (We do this on all our fire trucks here at work, simply because of all the radios, computers, portable flashlights, and heart monitors, etc, we must have everything kept at 100% or as darn close to it as possible!!!)
Remember that when any vehicle sits for long periods without running, over time, the batterys' voltage will drop. The rate of drop depends on what and how many systems/circuits are drawing power and at what rate.
Trickle chargers help compensate for these drops.

What I'm thinking you could do and would be a pretty cool mod is this:
Take a good quality trickle charger. Pick up a negative and positive battery cable and branch those off the battery. So all stock wiring is the same but now you have a positive and negative battery cable, connect the trickle charger to those. Mount the trickle charger in the engine compartment. Pick up some quick connect/disconnects as in say for a winch. Mount that connector in one of the grill slots or somewhere else.
That way you can just easily plug in and unplug the trickle charger once in the garage!

hey LoJac963 I just picked up a trickle charger from wallmart for 20$ that has an extra positive and neg cable with round eyelets on the end to hook up perminantly to battery the other end of the cable is quick disconnect to the trickle charger so if you bought this one you could run that end through grill and plug right into trickle charger in garage without mounting it under the hood its "Schumacher xm1-5-ca"
