If everyone only knew the environmental damage caused by creating and disposing of nickel batteries. They would think twice.
In addition, the so called great hybrid would only get low 30s mpg whenever it got cold, i.e. below 60F. Guess what. I lived in IL and that is half the year at least.
But my 2000 corvette, with a 5.7 litre gas engine, would get up to 29 mpg with my highway driving. Which technology is better. Squeezing 29 mpg out of a 350 hp 5.7 litre, or 33 mpg out of a 40 hp piece of junk?
Not to mention, I had to get rid of it. It sat at the Toyota dealer for two months with "electrical" problems that no one could solve. It would plain not run at all.
