we have a very small yard...so its not a huge deal...when i lived at home, my parents have a half acre backyard, and we used a rider...

fun story..

when i was 16 or so, my parents went to barbados. my dad had been doing small engine repair in his spare time, so we had a handful of riding mowers in the garage. a friend of mine came over, and we took the good mower and mowed an 11 turn "track" into the backyard. im sure that you can see where this is going..

we then took two of the old beater riders, took the nonfunctional parts off (like the mowing decks) and made a start finish line..we then raced a50 lap event..i had a pretty healthy lead around lap40 when the motor in my mower failed...it had been smoking for a while, and i guess that it ran out of oil and seazed up...we also ruined the grass on that path...
