muffler question from a bad installer
So in my other thread I had a question about my muffler getting hot and wanted to know if it was a fitment issue. What I left out is that I did a temporary fit with couplers to make sure I liked it before welding it. About halfway home one side gave way and it dragged on the ground for probably 3 miles at 65 or 70 mph. I didn't realize it was hanging until I got off of the exit. At that point I found that it was burning hot all the way up to and including the bracket it was still hanging from. Is the dragging at high speeds what caused the ridiculously hot muffler? I just want to make sure before I put it back on again. Thanks for helping an idiot!

When I grabbed it burned my fingers pretty good. Luckily I had a ratchet set so I was able to loosen the clamp that was holding it to get it off. I had to take the nuts off all the way with the ratchet since they were crazy hot too. Then I was able to use some towels so lift it into the truck.
