Default H3 Exhaust Question- Camaro Muffler?

I have a 2006 H3 and I want to change out my exhaust so it has a deeper sound. I am trying not to break the bank. I went to a muffler shop and the guy showed me the chrome magnaflow H3 system which is nice but spendy. He then said that he could just do a magnaflow camaro muffler and do duel chrome tips out the back.He made it sound like it is the same muffler, just not chrome, which I don't care about. He also suggested leaving my resignator on. Cost would be $380 with tax. I think I am going to go for it, but was curious if anyone has done this and how it worked out. I also wanted to know if I should leave the resignator on or take it off. I don't want it to sound too loud, but i do want a deeper, modified sound.

2/7 update- Here is a youtube of the finished muffler: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=stdRY92oB1s

You can still save yourself some money...

Heres a good universal from Mangaflow that will fit.

Just find a good reputable muffler shop to install it. I have always owned Mercedes in the past and have had universal's installed for 25$ on them easily. Shouldnt take longer than 30 min tops to do either.

This will give you the sound your looking for, but a single tip shouldn't be more than 10-15$ to install.

Thats all your muffler shop was gonna do. He was gonna put a Camaro muffler on then weld some piping back and throw some tips on. This just saves you 3/4 the cost minus tips. I know this because he was talkin about leaving the resonator. I'f it was a full cat back exhaust system that he was wanting to put on then all of it would be replaced.

Basically all your doing is supplying him the muffler. Thats where they are wanting to make alot of the money is selling you spair parts for retail price when you can get better ones on ebay.

On the magnaflow site, they are 134 I believe it was for the same one.

I have read that the straight 5 motor doesn't sound good unless you do dual pipes. Maybe someone will respond that has tried a muffler upgrade with one pipe.

Here you go..
This one is 4 inches longer than the stock over all length but will not be an issue.

As long as you find one thats 2.5 in, thats the important part.

You just gotta get a quote on the piping. Still dont believe it could be over 60$

Yeah thats even better cause its the 2.5 out instead of the 2.25 but I didnt see that one.

I'd be even better if you can find a 2.5 in and 3" out. Thats how I did my Mercedes and it was a 4 banger and everyone kept askin me if it was a V8... It was pretty nice.

So should I leave the resonator on or have it removed?

Leave it on... I'd take it off it was a V-8 but that will start getting to a raspy ricer sound if you do take it off, and you will start getting alot of drone on the interstate and that gets on your nurves after a few months.
