Default MPG's

I've had this rig for a few days now, absolutely love it! Wife and kids love it as well. The perfect weekend family rig.

I drove in to work today to see what kind of MPG's she gets. Pleasantly surprised to get 14.2 MPG on the way in. Drove 60 MPH on cruise control.

What's not to love? Rides like a 757, is about as wide as a 757, nearly as tall as a 757, shifter looks like the throttles in a 757, better GPS than a 757, how much is that 757 in the window?!

regarding mpg i'm a little baffled. When we tow (which is pretty much any time the H2 is on the freeway) we get 9.1mpg in tow mode. Without the trailer around down driving we get the same 9.1. If you drive like you have an egg between your foot and the gas peddle you can get 10mpg. This is an '08 6.2 6l80. I'm not complaining I just was surprised.

I'm getting about 12.8 on the '08 but 14.2 on the '04. I would have thought the 6L80 tranny would've netted better mileage even with the bigger motor but not so far.

I would do cartwheels if I got 12.8! And no a diesel conversion makes no sense.

I'm getting a very consisten ~13.5 on the highway with mixed 60 to 75 mph speeds and anywhere from 8 to 12 in city only driving. It's curious that before I moved from UT to OR last summer I was getting 15+ on the highway and generally ~13mpg overall. I would have thought I'd get as good or better here where the highways are more flat but I guess thinner air w/less resistance more than makes up for generally more hilly travel.

After a few trips to and from work, 50 miles each way with a little traffic as well, I'm getting 14.7 MPG at peak and now getting 14.5.

I'm doing 60 MPH and using cruise control. I'm going to be adding a CAI soon, hopefully I'll eek out a few more MPG's.

Anyway, as a new H2 owner, really happy the new beast. Love this rig!

How are you testing this?
In my 2007 h2, I reset my MPG back to zero and check mine ever so often.
Example: As soon as I get on highway and upto speed, I reset it to zero and drive to destination (20 miles or more). I get 17.5 mpg highway
In the city with lots of red lights and speeding up, slowing down, for a good period of time, I get 10 mpg city

I am in flat Orlando area so that is a factor
I do use Lucas fuel additive on each fill up but I dont think this is a magic elixir

Have I been testing wrong?
