So, for the past year or so, every time I drive by certain areas, my Sirius XM radio cuts in and out. I have the original Monsoon system that came with my 2006 H3.

Does this sound like a problem with Sirius XM or my stereo system or possibly even the Sirius XM antenna on top?

Any advice is appreciated.

I too have the same original head unit with Sirus/XM in my 07 Adventure and the only time the satellite reception cuts out is when I go under trees.
When I drive on Hwy 80 out west here there are many spots where the trees cut the line of sight from the antenna to the satellite.
This may not be your problem, but I thought I would say it any way.
I have also had the satellite reception cut on certain channels. That is easy to test

We have XM reception issues in the same spots every time we go through them on every vehicle we own/owned with XM/Sirius.
Some kind of signal blocking/interference/tree coverage/tunnel/etc.
Does not bother us anymore because we know it's coming.

 

Cell phone towers are what kill my signal. Bridges and tall buildings also knock my signal out, but it seems like every time I'm by a cell tower it kills it for the longest. I only have it happen on certain channels and not in my newer vehicles with Sirius and XM. It's aggravating when I'm stuck in traffic
