I have an '06 H3 Base. It is not (yet) leveled. This weekend some poor 80 year old man sideswiped me at ~ 10-15 mph coming off a fwy offramp.

Anyways, I have 265/75/16s on stock chrome wheels and I'm working to make the most of an unfortunate situation and ordered 20x9 KMC XD Monsters in flat black (XD77829067718).

I was recommended 285/50-20 or 275/55-20 and wanted to see if anyone had any recommended tires or their 2cents to add. I guess the 50 series would affect any spedometer variance less. But any recommended brands, etc?

Thanks!
Eric

35/12.5/20s are the only ones that are not gonna ride rough. I ran 18s with 35s and it rode worse than stock

The 285/50/20 tires would be about 31.22" diameter (smaller than your OEM tires)
The 275/55/20 tires would be about 31.90" diameter (slightly larger than your OEM tires)

My 2 cents is that either choice would look ridiculously small on an H3.
You want to have at least a 33" diameter tire or even better a 35" diameter.

Nice job on digging up a FOUR YEAR OLD "how big of tires will fit" thread.

oh. so you think that even the 55 series at ~1.1" smaller diameter difference would look ridiculously small?

crap. I ordered the Yokohhama Parada Spec-X today from Americas Tire.

What would bring it closer to the orig overall diameter? 285/65/20? I don't even know if they make those.

You need a WIDER tire as you go up in diameter. Look under 305, 315 or 325 sizes.

Really, 2 pages of discussion for some rubber band tires on RIMZ!

Im sure you are a smart kid and can find a tire size converter online and type in 285/75R16. Tons of converters out there...

Have PCMofNC tune your PCM to adjust for larger heavier tires and other options,

I ordered some 315/75 16's for my stock wheels yesterday.
They should make the truck look beefier
