hi new to this great site. live in canada but got my 08 h3 from states. anyone know how to switch the miles to kilometres ( distance travelled in digital display)? not sure if it has to be done at dealer or not. thanks chris

You don't have to change anything except for where you look. There is a built in conversion tool right on your speedometer. It's the inner circle and it's even a different color. Click the link for a picture.

I believe for a vehicle to be "legal" in Canada, and pass the out of country inspection, kph has to be the dominant displayed markings, but I could be wrong. If thats the case, it looks like you will need to get a different face, and perhaps different speedo gears. If its been inspected, and insured, I wouldn't worry about it...most of us grew up with mph, and its really not a big thing.
There are no speedo gears, its electronic, fed from a signal from the BCM. (BCM receives information from the PCM which gets it from the speed sensors in the t/case.)
The entire I/P can be changed out in about ten minutes. Then I believe a simple dealer calibration can fix the it.
