Not sure if it's metal or plastic. It's high polished chrome like the front grill. The lights fit perfect. They come with HUMMER marked covers for protection. I think they are 40 watt.

You should be able to tell from the way they feel (hard or softer) or by the sound it makes when you tap something against them. Plastic is a dull noise, metal is a sharper noise. If they are stainless, a magnet will stick to them.

Forgive me for seeming so wussy about it, but I'm very ticked that I didn't know about the factory chrome (even after asking the GM parts guy). Being that this is on the front of the vehicle, I expect it will take a lot more abuse from rocks and dirt and such so originally I was hoping for a polished stainless steel one. After my search didn't pan out, I ordered the ones I have now, knowing I could get them chromed. But chromedABS won't stand up as good as stainless steel. If the factory ones areABS chrome as well, then at least I know I'll have as good as I could have gotten if I had known earlier.

If they are metal, I guess I'll cry some more.

Sounds like a good idea. The local Hummer dealer is getting a Sonoma Red H3x in next week. I'm going to check it out...who knows...maybe I'll end up with a new Hummer.
