Default LIttle Star Screw on Tow Hook Mount

Just installed my brush guard today but can't get those little star screws back into the tow hook mount... seems like they are just too short now... What are they for?
What size are they?
Can I just get longer ones?
Are they really needed and for what?

Iv'e seen other install posts that say you do not need to put them back & they are used just to hold it in place while being assembled.

I know exactly what you mean. You don't really need them, but I put them back in not knowing that until I read up on it on this site. If you want to put them in you really got to work at it to get them back in there and they just BARELY go back in, I mean just by one or two threads...

I also got longer ones, but found out the hard way that they only go in so far, so you are stuck either cutting them or having them stick out.

What do the screw into behind the bumper... .seems like whatever it is it moves around a bit if I put in a small screwdriver... I can wiggle it up and down.

Went to the lumber yard... bolts are 6mm (I think by 25mm).

Lumber yard had something similar but the same length.... only without the slight taper at the end...

I also bought longer hex head bolts... used the hex head bolts to tighten and pull the piece behind the bumper a bit tigher. Took the hex bolts out and then tried the new bolts and they just caught... but barely... done!

Nice! I know I bought a couple screws that were just a little longer and they didn't go all the way in. The hardware store (of course my luck) was out of the same size ones as the stock ones, so I didn't try those, but I got the stock ones to just barely grab. They are a pain lol!
