heard back from the dealership. they said it was the battery. replaced it and no problems. I'm going to look into new terminals as well.

 

Stupidest design ever...what if you were out of town and had to leave your car and didn't have a spare key? Do you lock the key inside intentionally? You can't leave your car until you get a jump...This is on H2 and H3.
