Default H2 key stuck in ignition

I was in some pretty deep snow a few weeks ago "trying" to see at what point I would get stuck (having fun more or less) and after I was done I could not get the key out of the ignition and I am able to shift gears without the brake pedal. I found the release button in the steering column and use a screwdriver to get the key out everytime, however it is getting Annoying. Anyone had this problem or can tell me what I broke?

BTW...it's not stuck in park, the battery is not low, the battery is not draining, and I have read this https://www.hummerforums.com/forum/s...stuck+ignition

Default no help but im watching

im curious how they do it in h3, it comes out ONLY when it is ALLOWED to , right gear pos and key position.
kind of messy if u want to turn off and pull dash with no juice on and pull shift back out of the way.

is it a mechanical link with shifter, a cable??, maybe broke??

the key has to be off,? and it MUST match up with a shifter cable release,,,notch, so im guessin its a cable?!!!

how do u do it with a screwdriver??

lets tear YOURS apart and find out!!!

tom

Sounds to me like a bad ignition switch. This happens pretty often in the H2.

It is now intermittent (comes out every once in a while). Still symptom of bad ignition switch? Tom- Read the link in the second post. You can manually remove the key from any GM ignition the same way I would imagine.

Happened to me and it was a bad ignition switch. Known H2 problem, at least on my old 05.
