Patrick, is there anyway to give me IP ban authority? If not I need someone that pays attention to this forum that does have that authority. Let me know.

I would like to be able to do that but this software doesnt offer that option. It isnt an option in user tools like it was with the old software...its in a forum setup section that is only accessed by the admin account (user #1).

Ive made a change to the registration process that we are finding is helping with the spam at some of the other sites..hopefully it will do the same here.

For IP banning, when there is a repeat IP used by a spammer, post it in here and i will filter it. Are you finding that many using shared IPs? at most of the other sites, they are using a huge range of IPs.

 

Some don't have dedicated Ips but some that do will change one letter at the end of their 18 letter name and resign up as soon as I ban them. i was banning one guy 3-4 times a day.

 

have you seen a decrease in the number of spammers since ive changed the registration process?

 

The last two days have been better.
