I know this isn't the answer your looking for but thought I'd share. I drive about 100 miles round-trip to work with 95 of it being highway. For the last month and continuing through the summer, we have major road work on the highway which limits speed to 60-70 mph. That coupled with summer temps(better combustion) has me at 19-20 mph the last 3 tanks I really haven't found the H3 to be any worse than my Gr cherokee with inline 6 was. And when you're traveling with that much style, how fast do you need to go?

Ya, they tried a different tune and I ran with that for several tanks. I saw less than 1 mpg improvement from the first tune, but still not to where it was at stock. The dealer update put me back to where I was. I don't know why I had those results. Kelly said she'd never had that issue. I just don't know.
I'm considering trying again now that I have my exhaust on. I think a reflash from them is like $50 once you've paid the first time. I could be way off on that though. Maybe all 3 mods will net some gains. OR, I'm just helping the economy by pumping more of my money into it.

I've seen alot of people claiming to get between 17 and 20 in theres, so that really why I asked what I could do. I don't expect great mileage but would be real happy with that. It seems that I get about 16 no matter how I drive or where I drive, and I do baby this vehicle and never take it to the floor. It only has 16000 miles also, so maybe once it gets broken in a little more I'll get another mpg or two. Either way I love the H3 and the vehicle is more than worth the gas

^If its any consolation.. I just ran a good highway/city mixed tank, with the last quarter or so of a tank offroad in 4low crawling thru the creek, and I got 17.5mpg on that tank.

Before I try the PCM4Less tune, is there any way to tell if the used 07 I bought has it already? I saw the K&N, but the PCM4Less tune is just a re-flash and not a new module right? I get 17.5-18 avg on the hwy at 70-75 with a high of 19 once. 33" Wrangler Duratracs, no roof rack, etc.

There is ZERO difference between octane and mileage in these trucks. I've tested it extensively in my several thousand mile journey I've endured.

I get about 18.5 mpg highway bone stock, 5 people in the truck, going 70-75 w/ cc set. Factory worn out air filter too.

Default '06 H3 5SP-Stick & '07 H3 4SP-Automatic AVG 22 MPG

Both my H3's have been fitted with ... Corsa Cat Back dual exhausts, GM Performance Air Intakes, Throttle Plate Spacers, Vortex Air Turbulators, Nitrogen Gas in Tires (more CONSISTENT 35LB tire pressure in ALL TEMPERATURES equates to increased MPG), Mobil 1 Synthetic oil, and I also use a fuel re-formulator in both the gas and the oil. Admittedly most of my driving is cement highway but occasionally I do pull 2 Harley's on a Kendon 2-Bike Trailer, that is figured into the average. By the way, the '06 H3 Stick is more fun to drive and even though the engine is a bit smaller than the '07 the '06 feels stronger and quicker. Bought both H3's new and they were at 17-18MPG AVG stock. The bolt-on pieces parts were easy, and Sams Wholesale Club Auto did the Nitrogen for $5 per tire. I also add 1 oz of Ethos fuel re-formulator per 10 gals of gas, there is a lot of controversy about this stuff but I've been using it for 3 years and it works, my mileage is better and my engine runs cleaner ... how do I know that? ... real simple ... the chrome exhaust tips (inside) on both my trucks are spotless ... NOT COVERED IN BLACK SOOT ... I figure it's not rocket science that if you can burn your fuel more completely and with less crap at the tail pipe your are increasing your efficiency and also helping the environment.
