my satellite radio,,free expired, to go from am to fm 2 is a lot of monotonous button pushing,minor but wasted time messing while driving. any ideas

 

Here's what I do now for my H1.....

You need a 3.5mm input jack for your car stereo (most car stereos have these now, and many also have the iPhone jack as well). If your stereo doesn't have it, there are kits to add it aftermarket....you'll most likely want a car stereo shop to install it though.

You need a smart phone: iPhone, Droid, Blackberry, etc.

Download and run one of the many internet radio programs available for free (Pandora, Radio Paradise, etc) and simply plug your cell phone into your radio.

Viola...great commercial free radio.
What I also like about this is that when my phone rings, I can speak hands free (I put my Droid in a holder on the console), and the sound comes through the car speakers loud and clear.

Make sure you have a cell plan that doesn't overcharge for data though...otherwise you are better off with XM or Sirius.

You can just disconnect the xm module form the radio to fix your initial problem or you can do the mod the previous poster is talking about. I did the mod over the weekend and now I listen to my AM talk radio using wunderradios interface to radiotime. the sound quality is much better than traditional AM and I can hop over to pandora if I feel like pure music.
