until they release a diesel, which should be in 2010 I'll stick with my 3.5

 

I heard there going with the E85 in 2010, maybe Camou2 can chime in here...he's has the Alpha and the I5 in his driveway.

 

I test drove the Alpha before I got my 07 3.7 and did not go Alpha for a few reasons: 1. You can only get the Chromed out with all the options (at least at my dealer), and we all know I'm more of a blackout kind of guy. 2. It was close to 10k more than the 3.7 and for the price I did not see that much more performance. The main reason I could think of for getting the alpha is TOWING. The only thing I may be towing is a motorcycle and I now have a hitch rack for that. If you don't need the towing aspect there are tons of performance mods you can add to your I5 that will give you all the power you want.

 

for those of us who don't have enough automotive savvy (and time) for performance mods, the Alpha package works out great

 

I believe if the I5 is all you need to suit your needs then by all means save some $$ and get that package, personally I felt the 5.3 would suit my needs better and I'll always choose a V8 option over any other.

 

as a prior owner of theI-5 and current owner of the alpha, they're both great. the I-5 is plenty on and off road. the V-8 is flat out awesome. would i trade if i wasnt forced to purchase a new one? no. however, i took it for a road trip over the xmas holiday. the passing ability is fantastic. gas milage is actually about the same as my old 07 adv pkg.

it all boils down to prefernce. for current owners, i'd say drive the wheels off your current h3. for new buyers, i'd say strongly consider the alpha. they're both fun as hell!

I just hope that they offer the 5.3 in the new H3 SUT, whenever they decide to actually release it.

 

If you plan on wheeling your H3 an ALPHA IS A MUST.The stock front diff(major design flaw)is crap and eats itself very easily.Cast iron diff will get you where you want to go.

 

Well i'm happy with mine, but out of curiosity... Can u get the X with the V-8? I still have yet to run into another X.
