There are hundreds of threads on common H2 issues.

These are old vehicles but as you'll notice in looking they are still worth a good chunk of money. If I were looking around now I would try to find one with well under 100k miles on it but the price is also going to reflect that lower mileage.

Technically a 2006 could have 120k on the odo and be right on track, meaning it would still be holding its value.

I haven't checked recently but my 06 Lux with 78k on the odo has been holding at the $27k price for a long time. Granted she's been garaged for a number of months now so the mileage isn't going up.

However, the amount of work I've put into mine would net a far greater amount as a private sale. You could look for those as well and possibly find a one owner H2 with decent miles on it and speak directly to the owner as opposed to a dealership.

 

window regulators, water leak through sun roof and roof lights, power folding mirrors, rust. some of these trucks are real rattle boxes and make tons of noises when hitting bumps and going over rough road. with that being said still anything else can be wrong with a truck thats as old as these are now. those are most of the very common ones. trans in these trucks seem to have a shorter lifespan than tahoes due to the weight give it a good run through.
