I love my Hummer
Finally got my hands on a yellow hummer. My uncle bought one new in 2005 a (yellow one) since that day i knew i wanted one. He still has his btw and living in New York it only has 40k miles on it. So back to mine i saw it pop up auto trader went down to homestead fl and picked it up it needed some work done and im doing it as i go. It is my daily driver so i put a lot of miles on it. I bought it with 170k on the clock its an 04. So far i have replaced the idler arm and the steering stabilizer. Just the other day my battery light came on. Soni went ahead and Replaced the alternator. During alternator removal and install i removed the intake tube. When i removed this i noticed the bottom of the rubber boot was not seated correctly before tightening the hose clamp by the prior owner so it was out of shape upon firther inspection i noticed that the plastic piping itself was dry rotted and half a 4 inch by 1/8 inch crack running across the bottom of the intake. This explains random occasional surging at idle and 55mph. So i guess what i am asking is does anyone have either a used aftermarket intake for sale or a used oem intake tube they are willing to part with. Appreciate any that can help. I am located in Boca Raton,Florida.
All in all very happy with the purchase love the truck to death and cant wait to have some on and offroad fun with it. It will be offroading in the swamps and pulling my 92 firebird to the track every now and then.

Nice! Post a pic or two of her.
Anyways on the intake tube Airaid makes one that works well. A bit louder since it does not have all the lower baffle bits on it but it flows air much smoother. It is part number 200-983 - they are not terribly cheap though.
That or I'm sure you could find a stock one on eBay, likely for a lot less.
One thing I'd keep a close eye on is oil consumption. If that has been open like that for quite some time it has likely pulled quite a good bit of dust, dirt, sand etc in and through the engine which will cause scoring of the cylinder walls which can cause high oil consumption. I know because of a Cadillac CTS we had - those have a known issue with the bottom of the filter box not being latched and allowing free air to flow in. That thing was going through a quart of oil every two weeks. On the plus side we only really had to change the oil filter a couple times a year, the oil was basically self changing. lol

Congrats on the new rig. My first Hummer was a used 2003 Yellow H2 and I remember the salesman telling me that it takes a special buyer for a yellow H2 and I thought that was cool as I like things a bit out of the ordinary.
I will post pics as soon as i upload them to photobucket. And yeah surprisingly ive put 5k miles on it in the last 2 months of owning it and it hasnt burnt a drop oil. Motor is very healthy. No oil at start up or high rpm either. I read up on a few intakes and intake tubes but i want to stick to an oem one. I figured a lot of people on here went with the aftermarket kits so someone might want to get rid of the stock unit. Also i looked around do we have a parts for sale section on this forum?
well in fact I did lost 1mpg when switch to a airad washable dry filter
I guess you only see a real benefits when the exhaust is also replaced
although tge oem filtee is expensive so any perform filter shouldnt break a wallet
My only NoNo is a open cool air intake .. . Some people get goos results but I cant see the benefits as the oem suck cool.air from fender
but honestly if O have to replace the intake tube I wouldn't spend the amount a new oem feom dealer should cost
The airdoc won't give a huge change in peeform or sound but ot looks much better and clean
also due clearence it .makes very easy to check all the hoses . water pump belt etc
There is nothing wrong with the stock setup other than the baffles. It already brings in cooler air from the side. Changing the tube will get rid of the baffles and allow a smoother flow of air.
Are you going to see 159mpg increase and 1,009 HP increase, nope.
I run an AirDoc tube modified to fit my Volant box with a Volant filter and pre-filter because it is so dusty here in AZ and my 2 is only for offroad. I have never felt or seen fine AZ dirt make it past my setup.
