I leased mine. In September when the lease is up I'll just hand them the keys. Then it will be GM's problem. That's one of the 10 or so major advantages to leasing.

In 2009 or 2010they are supposed to do a deisel. Theyshould bedoing a small turbo-deisel, or a 2.5 to 3.0L direct-injection turbo gas engine.

Even more,...they need to knock 1,000 lbs out of it. Make it unibody for starters. But build in some sub-frame reinforcing points.

Then they can make reinforcing rails that bolt on with the towing package.

And the aftermarket can make longer reinforcing rails that attach the front and rear subframes for the guys that are going to do serious offroading. This would leave the vehicle much lighter and more efficient for the other 95% of owners.

I'd like to see;
Light-weight fiberglass leaf springs. (that lower the rear 1" and save 40 lbs)
Aluminum2.8L direct-injection turbo 4cyl engine. (280 hp, 300 tq)
Get rid of the antique body-on-frame designin favor of somethingmade inthe last 30 years like uni-body.
6-speed trans

I saw an article the other day that $4 a gallon is actually a good deal as compared to many other countries as well as rising inflation. Obviously it isn't a great deal, but as the market turns and revenues increase, prices will seem reasonable again. It's like talking to your grandfather and when he says he remembers when cars cost $3 grand...that used to be expensive in those days.

Good comparison

I am reading this thread with a bit of intrest because I want an H3 in the worst way. However for my householdthe price of gas is cutting into our family budget. So I have made the decision to wait until the 2010model year is released (next September??). In 2010 the 3.7, I-5 will be history replaced by a 3.6, V-6 plus a six speed automatic trasmission for all H3 models. This V-6 has cylinder deactivation (GM's displacement on demand). Iantisipate with the slightly smaller V-6, and 6-speed transmission, we will see better MPGs. I also think GM needs to look at a different transfer case which provides a 2wd mode for highway driving and putting the H3 on bit of a diet.

In the mean time while I wait for the 2010's to come to life, I'm looking at getting a scooter or a motor cycle to drive to work and back.

Diesel is now $1.02 higher than regular gas here in SoCal. Not sure the diesel is that much more efficient than the gas motor. My gas F-250 got only slightly less mpg than my diesel F-250. The diesel towed better due to the extra torque but I don't think it would pay gas wise based on current prices, especially since you have to pay so much more for the diesel package.

Not sure if I'm right on that or not, was just thinking of the Mystery Machine.

Good guess, we'll see if it's right.

O.K.

Scooby-Doo is a refrence to the cartoon.

Those who own Late 60's to early 70 GM, Ford, and Dodge vans in which the engine sat between the driver seat and the passenger seat. These vans had no front end to speak of and you the driver and passenger sat on top of the front wheels. Those vans looked just like the Mystery machine (I have always admired these vans). They are also know as surfer vans, hippie vans and love machines.

also

People who own Subaru products (as I once did)often refer to them as scoobs. I do not know the origin of this.

So I hope that helps
