Hummer & SUVs Head for Bad Times
None of this is new, we went through this crap in the 70's. (Yes I was only a kid but I remember sitting in the lines with my mom. Oh my god, we are running out of gas!!) It will balance out, I don't think that it will ever go back down but it will level off.
I will always drive whatI want. I am fortunate enough to be able to do that. I may even buy a feel good high mileage vehicle one day to drive around some but I like that bigger vehicles, feel safe in them and will continue to own and drive them. I will not sell one of my Hummers to do that. ( in fact I am looking at purchasing another H1 now ) I think we are on the same page. As long as we allow the leaf lickers/government to tell us we can only drill offshore for oil in Texas and LA now ( no East coast, West coast, Alaska, drilling etc ), throw roadblocks in the way of developing more nuclear power plants, shale oil productionand refineries, allow a monopoly to set production quotas, hedge funds to manipulate the prices, etc we will always be hostage to high energy prices. America feeds half of the world, maybe we need to start trading a bushel of wheat or corn for a barrel of oil. I get hungry a lot more often than I fill my car up. I bet if we took a hard line on that we could cut some advantageous deals with some of the oil producers or other countries. Everyone is playing hardball with us so it is time we did the same ( of course the hand wringing elitists and liberals will never let that happen. _
End of rant.

That may have come out the wrong way, I love my H3, but I am in the millitary and so the H1 has sentimental value to me. My wife is the same as yours, after driving the H3, it is now her new favorite car ever!! I knew I married the right lady.
I drive them in the military also, I think that's part of the reason that I DON'T want one. I respect them for what they are, you can't help not to. I know they are 2 totally different trucks as far as creature comforts, but I just can't get out of my head driving around Germany with the snow and cold air blowing in under the top and freezing half to death
Some on here already know, but my wife is the one that introduced me to the Hummer civilian lineup. She had an 06 while I was still driving my PU. Was very skeptical at first, but ended up falling in love all over again.
There are a few good ones out there H3dude

love my H1s. I won't give them up. Only open tops I have been in have been nice. Not the type of wind issues you had. Mine are wagons so no issues there either. The military Hummers are pretty spartan but I think that for an off road vehicle I would be just fine with one.
I would love to have one of the military H1's just to off road in, but I can't seem to find one in my price range (which isn't much
). As far as a combo on/off road I am VERY happy with my H3 though. Wife and I both wanted one, and I couldn't afford 2 deuce's or a deuce and a 3 so I went with 2 H3's. Very happy with the decision.
