Hummer H2 Interior Lights
I have a few random interior backlights that do not work. For instance, the backlight that shows the seat heat that is located on the drivers door doesn't work. The seat heater works and the 3 lights indicating the level of heat works, just not the backlight showing the seat. Passenger door, all is fine. In addition, a couple of the backlights on the steering wheel do not work. Such as, the "information" button and the volume buttons. The others on the steering wheel work fine. Are these "backlights" replaceable individually? If so, how? I can probably figure out the door, but the steering wheel I am not sure. I thought I read where you can actually get bulbs for these to change them to different colors, but I may be wrong. Anyone have any information around the oddity of them not working and/or changing them out?
Yup, among the list of little annoying things that no longer work on my H2, many of those little freaking lights have gone out. I read a post somewhere that if you're handy on a soldering iron you can remove the bulbs and replace with an led equivalent. Not sure what that equivalent would be though.
I've seen that you can carefully remove the buttons in the steering wheel by prying them out, haven't tried that yet.
Pretty sure all of the buttons still available for purchase to just replace the entire assembly, but I like the idea of soldering in the LED's.
These lights being out annoy me, but not to the point of dismantling the dash, steering wheel and door panels to fix everything. I'm kind of hoping they all just finish burning out so I can imagine they never had lights--but that's not how it will work, just enough stay lit to upset the balance.

Steering wheel buttons/lights are easy. Just replace the whole button. They are about $15-$20 each and take 5 minutes to change. Just slide a pick down next to the button and pull it out, unplug it, plug in new one and push it back in.
I replaced bulbs in my AC controls with these:
5mm ? High Brightness White LED #276-0017 By RadioShack | eBay
They may be able to replace the lights that you have out. Just get a good small soldering iron.
Good Luck!!!

I've replaced every light in my interior with LED. They are all easily done with a good soldering iron and good solder wick.
I really wish I took more pictures of this process but I didn't.
Here's a few pics:
Changed seat backlights to red LED's

I can't upload any other pics to photobucket for some reason but they are standard LEDs.

I was just checking this out on YouTube and saw two methods. One to replace the bulb the other, requires soldering, and repairs it but is quite inexpensive. Bulbs can also be purchased off eBay.
