It's coming out for 2009, look here and here for the H2 and apparently here for the H3 Alpha E85.

I don't know alot of the technical side of it. But, my 07 Silverado was FlexFuel (E85 or regular) and I was lead to believe that it wasn't that great of a thing unless you are solely worrying about the environment. MPG aren't that much better if at all, it really isn't any cheaper, it's harder to find (only a few gas stations carry it), less power, and once you use it you not supposed to go back to regular gas. I didn't like it so I never used it. Again, not technical data. Just what I have been told so I didn't try it.

I have heard the gas is E85 is cheaper but you don't get the same power or mpg from it. Never had one myself so that is second hand.

E85 has less potential energy then petrouleum and unless the engine was specifically designed for it you'll probably only get 50-70% mpg, so from a dollar standpoint you'll get much less power and mileage out of it.

IMO, Biodiesel is the better solution, since you can produce that from waste byproducts rather then ethanol/E85 which competes with our food supply.

If the engine is designed to run E85, you should get better performance, E85 is about 100 octane

The MPG issue is because E85 has 81,850 BTU/gal and regular gasoline is about 112,000 BTU/gal. E85 isn't less efficient, it just doesn't have the same energy content per gallon as gasoline. Diesel is around 135,000 BTU/gal, because carbon is your friend!

so, if you have, lets say, a new suburban with the flexfuel option and you run E85, your performance should be the same but how bad will the MPGs be affected? also, how much does it cost on average (i have yet to see it at a gas station)

My Silverado was an 07 and was designed for it, but everyone that I talked to about it including the dealership (and yes, we all know they aren't experts on any subject) told me not to use unless that's all I planned on using. Something to do with you have to have the engine serviced or something to be able to go back to regular gas, and it's just too hard to find around here (E85), and the power piece of it I didn't like.

If you put E85 in your car you will get LESS MPG but the gas is supposted to be a tad cheaper.
