Staff Sergeant / E-6 / US Army / 18 yrs
-Transportation; now on Recruiting Duty. Only good thing about the Recruiting duty is that they let me come back to my hometown for it.

is recruiting a critical careerfield in the Army?? They had to give points for testing and came up with a new ribbon for the rack in the AF... they even madatory cross trained some of the SNCOs

Right now there are only 2 sets of orders that will override anything else. Special Forces and Recruiting, if that tells you anything. I have 5 tours combined with Desert Shield/Storm, Somalia 2x, Iraq 2x and sometimes I think that was easier than what I'm doing now. All I can say is at least I get to sleep in my own bed every night now
*EDIT* They are actually pulling some of the prior recruiters from the field and putting them back on recruiting right now. Some of the dip****s (recruiters) that have been on the news in the past few years don't help things any. You would probably be surprised at the numbers we are pulling though, you really don't have to lie like those guys were on the news. These kids want to join! I had about 4 walk-in's this week. My office put in 32 last quarter and we are a small office.

Yeah... thought so. I almost got the hook for that... then I extended my overseas short tour and took the bonus, which killed the follow-on... then I had 17 choices coming back from overseas.... ... all Andrews.
