I am new here and I have a question for a friend who has a H3 and he wants to increase the maximum speed which is limited to 150km/h or 94 miles
Is this a software which can be changed ?
If yes, where can he buy this software ?

You need a "power programmer" aka superchip. They're not cheap. ~$260 - $400 US Dollars.

Considerations:
1) You want to make sure you have a V rated tire if you're going to modify the top speed.
2) Removing a speed governor setting is illegal in some places.

I only wonder, why would want to go faster than 100 mph? I love speed, so don't get me wrong, but People don't normally care how fast they can get their Hummer going.80 to 85 mph inGeorgia is really pushing it on some of our highways. The copskeep the crack down on us.

 

lol because we here in Luxembourg are driving sometimes to Germany (only 20 km away) and there on the "autobahn" there is no speedlimit !!! lol

I have a Saab 9-3 convertible and sometimes I drive to Germany with max. power that means 250 km/h or 156 miles !

The 3.5L has a rev limiter imposed through the PCM. You can get a PCM tune by mail order, from places like PCMforless.com, do the loaner program, and one of the variables that you can have them change or eliminate is the rev limiter.

Having said all that, how fast do you really think an AWD4800 pound brick will sail down the Hwy with the gearing of an H3 and only 220 HP?

If you get the PCM tune, you can definitely pick up more HP, get better drivability, improved mileage, crisper shift points, and can take advantage of other mods like an intake and CAT back exhaust. Tons of members here have done this, including me. My rev limiter was removed, but I have never even ettempted to go faster than 85MPH. I cruise at 75MPH.

Fuzzy, if your friendwants to go fast, tell them to get something other than a Hummer.
Hummers are SLOW!

 

My 06 H3 wants to be at around 84MPH. That`s it`s cruising speed. I have trouble keeping it around 65-70. Granted I`m a former cop so I have a bit of a lead foot.

I do however agree that a hummer probably shouldn`t be going over 100.

The top speed in the H3, especially the 06 3.5L, is more aero limited than its is rev limited. Removing the rev limiter won't do much to the top speed. The fastest I've had my truck was mph105. Keep in mind, stock speedos are very inaccurate, especially above 100mph. Also, that was in mostly 4th gear- with the way the H3's ratios are, you may bounce off the limiter in 4th, but when you shift into 5th, it bogs down alot. Still though, 105 is pretty fast in a brick on wheels

 

Wow! I never even think about taking mine above 65-70mph. If I need to go fast, I hope in my other car
