Default can it be??

is it likely an 06 didnt have "unleaded heads" when lead was gone about 30 yrs b4 the engine was made????. gotta be more to the "bad head" 06 than that i think. unless it was a major screwup in design, but the engine seems like a good one.

Was there any drive train changes during the production run, other then the additional .2 liter increase in displacement?

I was told today that i may have it back Thursday or Friday

One other question......two guys I work with have 2006 Colorados and they both told me they got letters from GM extending the warranty for 7/100,000 miles. And the one guy bought his second hand! Is it possible it will be under warranty, have you heard of H3 owners getting the same offer?

Can anyone post a procedure that we can follow to start the process of getting the head fixed. I purchased mine about a year ago and now has 75,000 miles on it. Idles rough, giving Cylinder #4 misfire codes. I would assume my head is done as well production in 06 but not sure where the casting number is or the range effected.

Unfortunately there is no "procedure" the 2006 H3 have no extened warranty from GM, unlike the Colorados. The extended warranty for them is for 2004/2006 regardless of vin. ( from what my dealer said) they also told me all 06 H3's will eventually need a head!! I also asked them about some 06 having the head replaced twice, I was told that early on some H3's ( and Colorados) had the head replaced before the updated head was available.
I am lucky, I just purchased mine last week and is getting covered under warranty I believe the average cost fo this job is around $3500 thru the dealer. (please correct me if I am wrong)

Mine had rough idle and cylinder 4 missfire code as well.
