Default Hey guys, new Aussie here :)

Hey all,

As per title, I have just come across these forums after a little searching online.

Great to see that there are still people actively reading and posting here, I was a little concerned that since they are no longer being made, that I wouldn't find an up to date forum like this one.

I am looking to buy a H2, preferably an '08+ if I can find one, although there aren't many selling here in Oz at the moment, so I may need to consider an earlier model. (main reason being I have read there were a lot of improvements with the 2008 model, particularly in the engine and driveline - please let me know if that isn't the case)

I don't drive a lot anymore, so am not concerned about the fuel usage, plus I have driven V8s all my life so am used to that aspect.

I have always loved the look, and my wife now needs a vehicle capable of towing. Use will primarily be short trips for groceries and similar, with the occasional longer trip towing a horse float or driving somewhere for a shooting comp.

If it is still a viable option to own a H2 in Australia (regarding parts/servicing issues etc) I am very seriously considering getting one.

A couple of concerns I have are:

- Servicing ... anyone (aussie forum members I hope may know) know where I am able to get servicing done in South Australia, near Mount Gambier, or down that way? Also, are they much trouble to service, ie. will I need someone that specifically knows them, or will any generic service centre be able to do it.

- Parts ... I had a quick search on this forum (and other websites) and it seems like there are still a lot of parts in the US, but I have no idea if parts are still available down here.

- Reliability ... Following on from parts, how good are they on this aspect? Are there particular faults with the different year models that I need to know of, and I am assuming they are costly to repair if there is a problem?

That is probably enough for now. I really appreciate everyone's time and feedback for any advice or opinions you can offer.

If there is anything else I should be considering that I haven't listed, feel free to let me know.

Thanks all,
Shawn.

All the Aussie Hummer owners I know drive H1s or H3s. My understanding on the H3s is that they were readily serviceable in Australia. Wayne had his H3 for 3 years and Thomas is on his second H3. I just looked at a 2006 H2 with 140,000 miles on the odometer. Truck was near perfect in, out and mechanically. My two H2s had remarkably few issues. There are numerous active Hummer forums and all have marketplaces for selling parts and accessories. I know shipping to Oz is expensive though.

Thanks for the response 3hummers.

I might drop a shorter post in the H2 section with a few other questions. I spent a bit of time reading last night and am liking the sounds of it more and more, but I wont clog up the new member section with it.
