Hey guys. New guy here with a few questions.
Hello. I figured I would join the forums since I'm now a proud owner of a 2007 H3 hummer with the tactical package. I'll try to post some pics in the future when/if I can get my camera to working again.
Anyhow, I have a few general questions.
1. I'm looking into doing the general fluid changes on the vehicle. The vehicle only has around 8500 miles, but I think it's good to get started fresh. Exactly how many quarts of fluid does the transmission hold in these vehicles ? I think I read somewhere that it's 15, but I want to be sure. I'm looking to flush out the current transmission fluid at 10k miles, and switching to Amsoil. Before anyone comments, yes, I have experience (good experience at that) with Amsoil, and yes, it does meet/exceeds the Dexron VI specs. I'm also looking into a good afteramrket transmission cooler, and I'm leaning towards giving B&M a call. They have some nice looking coolers with electric fans on them.
2. How many quarts of oil does the engine hold (minus the extra half quart for the filter) ?
3. I take it since this is an AWD vehicle, then I will need to put gear lube on both the differential casings of the front and rear axles, correct ? If so, how many quarts will this be total ?
4. What basic performance mods do you guys recommend that isn't overly expensive, and won't void the warranty ? I'm just looking to get a little more power and possibly a bit better mpg. BTW, warranties for Hummers can be used at GM dealerships for service, correct ? I only ask becasue there is no Hummer dealership anywhere near where I live (Ozark, Mo.).
Thanks in advance.

"It is correct that a Hummer product must be serviced by an authorized GM Hummer service facility, due to special tools and training being required. There are Hummer service facilities available to you in both Regina and Saskatoon."
I bought my Hummer anyways b/c Regina is only 45 minutes away.
Radak99, thanks for the reply. I think I'm in trouble if what you stated is true, because accordingly to the Hummer website, the closest Hummer dealership to me is 80.9 miles away.
I can't honestly imagine having to drive 80.9 miles to get my Hummer serviced.

Warranty work can only be at a GM Hummer service center but that doesn't mean the service that helps you maintain your warranty can only be done there. You can do all of the work yourself, have a local shop do it, Chevy dealer, Jiffy Lube, whomever. You just have to prove the work was done if it ever comes up as a warranty issue.

As a side note I asked the service manager at my local GM dealer if he could fix my Hummer under warranty and he told me maybe in a emergency circumstance they could get authorization to fix it, but for the most part it would have have to be fixed at the Hummer dealer the next city over.
I was planning on doing my own oil changes. That is no biggie. For that matter, neither is the other forms of basic service, like transmission fluid changes (not flushes), filter changes, etc.
It's warranty claims that I'm worried about, such as if a part on the vehicle fails, and needs replaced....especially if its something serious, like a transmission or internal motor issue.

I had my 06 and 07 get warranty work done at a Chevy dealer since there was no Hummer Dealer in my area. The dealer I bought mine from was in the process of building the Hummer dealership, they told me that all warranty work could be done at any GM dealer.
