Default help with radio please

I have a 08 hummer h3 adventure, I don't not have onstar or Sirius radio. I do have the monsoon system tho. I just bought a new double din, and I'm wanting to know, since I don't have onstar(its not on the mirror) can I hook it up without the interface? Also, no one around here has the plug to hook it up so I'm thinking about cutting the plug and wiring it up, does anyone have a wiring diagram and will my monsoon still work?

I'm good at wiring/soldering,but for many reasons i avoid cutting wires in my h3.I'd rather pay for the adapter and keep it simple, down the road,me,the next guy.

Buy the adapter. I had my double din installed by a friend and apparently a lot more stuff is wired through the deck than you would think. Just buy the right kit for your specifications. It is pretty costly though.. Atleast in Canada

I'm guessing since no onstar it was a rental or the previous owner somehow broke the onstar mirror and didn't want to pay for a replacement? I would guess it still has all the same modules, just missing the actual mirror. one way to make sure is look for the main module (I'm not sure where it is on the hummer) or check if the wiring is in the headliner. youll most likely want to order the connecting interface and wiring harness off the Internet. you don't have to ave the interface but you'll lose the dinging if you leave lights on, when an error message shows, when a door isn't closed etc, but if you're already goin through the effort of installing a stereo you might as well spend the extra 40 bucks and do it right. def do not cut and soldier the wires, you'll regret it. if by chance your new one breaks it'll be a pain (my in dash DVD recently lost color and I had to take it out and get it repaired and put the stock back in for a month) or if you decide to upgrade or sell the vehicle and keep the stereo for your next ride, if you have a harness adapter you can simply unplug and plug in the stock and not worry about trying to find the stock connector you cut off, snipping all the wires again, stripping the wires, soldiering them back together, and that if you left enough on the stock connector to even do that. save yourself the headache in the future, do it the right way. and if you're like me and like to have an excuse to soldier you can still soldier the harness to the aftermarket stereo and heat shrink the connections instead of taking the easy way of twisting and taping.

The onstar module is located behind the radio on the bottom of the floor pan. If you remove the radio and the dash panel for the AC controls you can see it on the bottom and it should be a white box, fairly big
