I'm looking around for a new 4x4. I test drove a H3 with the I-5 and the same day as I test drove a jeep wangler (crap), FJ Cruiser (okay with a few mods), LR2 and LR3 (great ride but hard to find in the right price range). The Hummer was my top pick for suspension but the power was lacking. other brands have modifications that would make the power a little more acceptable. I was looking for a full exhaust but all I could find was cat back. A supercharger would be nice. The point is I want to know what the full potential is, as far as engine modifications go, before.

Right now I have a 2005 dodge 1500, 4.7L V8, 4x4 it gets 15 mpg (rated 14 to 18), has decent pickup. I would like to retain the same gas milage or better so I'm going to avoid the V8. Payments plus higher gas bill just won't work so it has to be considered.

so what modifications are out there other than cold-air-intake, minor computer, and cat back. I'm going to decide weather to get a Hummer based on another test drive and the modifications available.
