Help! Even trade my H3 for an H2 ??
OK, While I was at the Hummer dealer picking up my H3 that was there all week for my door lock issue (which was a corroded ground wire in the door boot) , I was talking to the Hummer sales manager and I was telling him how I really liked the H2 that was there on the showroom floor.
It's a white 2005 H2 with 27,000 miles on it that does not have one scratch or stone chip on it. He told me it still has a 5 yr, 100K mile warranty left on it. I mean it was that clean I thought it was new!
He said he would take my 06 H3 w/34,000 miles as an even trade on it.
I told him if the gas mileage was not so bad on the H2 I would do it in a heartbeat!
Is the mileage that bad on the H2's?
Should I trade the H3 for an H2?
I'm averaging about 18mpg right now in my 3 in the city and about 23 on the highway. I get more than double the gas mileage now. I mean gas is only going to go up in price and it won't get any better.
What should I do?
It's a decent deal... it has more creature comforts, more power to pull your present and future toys.... still under warranty....
I really don't think the gas is that bad... and best of all....
IT'S BIRCH WHITE!!!!!

It's a good deal on the vehicle, you just have to decide if it is worth it in mpg for you. Look at the H2 mpg threads and do the math. If you're not comfortable with the increased dollars, don't do it. If you drive 15,000 mile per year, your mpg drops by 6 mpg, it'll take an extra 220 gallons of gas to do those miles. At $4 per gallon, you're spending another $880 per year. Your call.
FYI - your H3 mpg is probably in the top 5% of the H3s that post here. 5 speed? With your presumable soft foot you can probably get another couple mpg out of an H2 that the rest of us can't.

I don't know anyone getting that type of mileage in an H3. I got 10.4 in my 03. It is a much nicer car to drive than the H3. Lots more options, better seats and ride, etc. Up to you but I would be tempted to do it.
On the surface of it -- it seems like a really good deal, since normally there would be about a 5k difference going between a 06 H3 and 05 H2...I guess you have to ask yourself what you'd rather drive if it's truely an even swap.
Seems like a good deal, more power, more room, more seating, v8, etc etc. Avg h2 owners get around 11 mpg you can get as high as 12 or low as 10 on average depending on how you drive and how much is city vs highway. I would do it in a heartbeat, the h3s are too cramped and underpowered.

If you can handle the MPG, I say do it. Sounds like a good deal and you're not out anything but willI would think you would get more for the deuce at trade in.
Yeah, I was in an H3 as a loaner while they did some work on my H2...
I WAS MISERABLY CRAMPED in it.
But then, Ima big guy.
Im not a fan of the H3's for me, but I do like them overall
But I say go get theH2.
Sounds like a fair shake and you will love it!
Gas wise, Im at 10.8 a gal.
But was at 11.1
a little leadfoot will drop you in a day.
over all, as the other guy explained 15K miles at an est. extra 880.00 a year in gas=
Worth it.
