Hey, i just got my new 08 alpha hummer h3 with luxury pakage!
But i noticed right away that there was a strange whining noise from the radio so i thougt it was a bad reception where i live (Sweden) but when i tried to play a cd it keeps doing noise!

Its a -08 alpha, stock stereo (think its the monsoon system?)
I havnt noticed any cd changer so its the base model.

Ive got a V8 badge in the back, but not in the steeringwheel so i think its a different model here in Sweden.

The noise sounds at a equal level all the time, if i turn the stereo up it drowns in the music. Its nothing wrong with the system other than this tough...if the volume is at 1 its really annoying, help?

 

The monsoon system is standard with the lux package the way you really know is by looking in your trunk if on the left side you see little port holes for a speaker thats where the sub is and thats how you know its a monsoon system. I don't know about the 6 cd changer, wether in 08 it was standard with the monsoon system or not. Usually noise occurs when there is resistance in the line some where. Usually the noise is tracked back to one speaker if the noise is threw out all speakers there may be a loose connection on the headunit. If its one speaker the speaker may be damaged or there may be a connection issue on the speaker or where that wire joins with the system. If you still cant rectify the problem you really should bring it to place of purchase or if you bought from a person you can bring it to a dealership since it will be under warranty.On final note about the badging. You will have the v8 badge on the back two alpha badges on the sides of truck and an alpha badge on the steering wheel and the head rests will be embroidered with a alpha badge.Hope this helps.

it sounds like alt to me since volume does not raise the whine, its in the power and can/ should be filtered out.

First off, thank you very much for the answers. It gave me something to tell the dealer for them to listen on me.

After about 15min @ the dealer they plugged in a sort of computer into my hummer and pressed some buttons. The problem was that the amplifier was not "activated" or something and it sound great now! It is a 6disc changer and the monsoon system with the woofer in the back.
Btw, how big is the woofer? And how many speakers are there?
