1997.5 H1, Have no heat for defrost just heat out the rear due to HVAC box falling apart. The question is even with out front heat you should still be able to use the defrost on the windshield due to the coils in the windshield correct?

 

Providing it works, yes. That's the main reason they have heated windshields due to hvac system from factory is pretty poor design.
