Default Headlights

I need some help here, I have the standard factory headlights for my 2005 H2 hummer and when I'm driving at night they don't seem to be as bright on low beam as you would think. the lens are as clear as a bell not cloudy The GM dealer says that they are putting out the amount for the light and they are on at night when you drive and they look bright enough when you drive, but when you are driving they seem to look like they are off. so I wanted to go with a brighter after market headlights for the H2 Hummer, as of right now it is hard to drive at night with low beams and the high beams help a bit but you can't drive on high beams. so what does anyone recomend to install that will fit the Hummer H2 2005 without any mods to the headlight mounts in the hummer. and is it something I g=can get off of amazon? thank for your help

And for what it's worth, the truck lite 27270c fit the h2 headlight bucket without mods...

I love the TruckLites in mine. Very bright, direct fit and very robustly made in the USA.

Thank guys, the links are a great help, only now I need help with getting the Steering wheel controls to light on at night? I installed new ones due to the old ones had burnt out. but the control buttons work fine no major issues, I was told that there is a 2amp fuse that controls the backlights to the steering wheel controls to make them work, I'm at a loss here if anyone had this same problem let me know how you got them to work, because the GM dealer says hummers don't have a 2amp fuse that controls the back lighting on the buttons. all the back lights is on one circuit thank for any input.

Lol, I have the same problem with some of the buttons (bottom left and top right) that do not light up. I have not looked into it so which bulbs did you replace and where are they located?

Default buttons

All I did was ordered new OEM from GM for the Hummer because they look the same for other GM vehicles but you have to get the ones just for the hummers, well anyway the old ones started to go out then they all went out on the steering wheel, so I ordered and replaced all 4, now they function ok everything works but the back lighting does not come on at night when you turn on your vehicle lights or your interior light switch The GM Mech thinks I need a new clock spring in the steering wheel, but some say no because the clock spring deals with your air bags, another Mech (GM) says there is a 2amp fuse inside the steering wheel harness that has to do with the back lighting for the steering wheel control buttons if that is blown then they will not light up or inline fuse as he calls it, in another words the whole harness has to be replaced, but I can't get a strait answer from the GM dealer Mech because everyone has a different answer, for them to trace the problem is $156 per hour so I'm hoping someone else had the same issue and found a better answer to the fix.

Thanks for the feedback, my problem seems to be a bit different as I have some buttons that light up and others that do not so I hope it is just bulbs.
Hopefully someone can chime in to resolve your problem.

Will be a while before I can find time to look at the service document stuff but I can tell you this much. Everything electrical on the front of the steering wheel goes through the clockspring. The clockspring is a long thin flat flexible electrical circuit with a number of wires that connect at each end. That is coiled up in a casing and is what lets the electrical things like the airbag, horn, steering wheel buttons (and their backlights) work without having actual wires getting constantly twisted up and broken from turning the steering wheel.

The clockspring can indeed go partially bad but that is uncommon. Generally the only time the clockspring gets damaged is if the steering shaft is disconnected and then the steering wheel is rotated 360 degrees a few times - that will destroy the clockspring - but then no function on the wheel would work if that were to happen.

Also the steering wheel control buttons are the same ones used on all GM trucks. Even the steering wheels and airbags are interchangeable. I have an Escalade wood/leather steering wheel in my H2 and its the buttons that came on the Escalade wheel from the junkyard. I did use the Hummer airbag on it though as I was not really wanting a big caddy logo. lol

I'm not aware of any sort of inline 2a fuse as mentioned but that does not mean there is not one. However you can google for GM truck steering wheel control buttons not lighting up or not working and find a TON more results for the trucks since those are far more common than the Hummers. As long as its a model from the same year range with the same style steering wheel the buttons and how they work are pretty much identical.

Edit to add - a quick 30 second search found these - so yes apparently there is a fuse inline close to the BCM under the steering column... I think the last one is a video of someone replacing that fuse. I just googled "gm truck steering wheel buttons light 2a fuse"
