Default Headlight Upgrade: Evloution 2 7" CREE

Just installed the Evolution 2 7" CREE Headlights on the 06' H2 yesterday. A very frustrating install. Even though they claimed it was a direct replacement, it was the farthest from the truth. First, I had to cut/modify the light housing to fit the head lamp. Lastly, I had to cut the OEM plug off and wire them directly. Not to mention the hours of searching the web to find the wiring diagram so I didn't fry the lights. But after replacing the install, replacing the grill, brush guard and insert it was a complete success. The light output is much more significant and a better spread than the HIDs or CREE bulbs I have used in the past. Quality seems fine but we will see how they hold up over time. I’ll take some pictures later and post them up. Now I just need to replace the Halogen PIAs on the brush guard, their light output is much more yellow than all the other lights that they look out of place.

It took me about 2 hours total. It would have been a lot quicker if I was at my garage with the right tools. It would really depend on if you have a brush guard, or any other accessory that would need to be removed to take off your grill.

I want some newer aftermarket cool headlights as well but can never find the direct plug and play. Even some online 7 inch round are advetised to fit the h2 but are for the jk jeep .I knew they were gonna need to be modded like this.

I opted for Trucklites, and i got their anti flicker H4 harnesses. They were easy enough to install.

Amazon.com: Truck-Lite (27270C) Headlamp: Automotive Amazon.com: Truck-Lite (27270C) Headlamp: Automotive

see below for the adaptors.. I feel far happier making the $30 adaptor fit my needs (splicing if needed) than butchering the headlights. They dropped in directly into my '09 with no further mods needed. The previous headlight connectors on the truck weren't in the best shape, so i just spliced the adaptor leads into the truck wiring, and then simply clicked the Headlights into the adaptor harness. Looks standard, so can possibly use the adaptors with other brands ? not sure. I like the look, and the output is an upgrade!

I have the trucklights in mine and I love them. So much brighter. They drop right in. Without modification. You do need the wiring harness adapter, it's easier than cutting your wires. The Trucklites are made in USA and have a three year warranty.
