For any of you that have removed your far left dash bezel of your '03-'07 H2, you will find that you have either twisted the nut retainers out of their housings for the two allen bolts that hold the bezel on, or someone else has already done it for you if you've had your vehicle repaired.
I love this truck, but when they say the quality of the truck is lacking, they are referring to little crap like this. The mechanical engineer and all those involved in QA of the design process should be taken out and left for dead for this design as it was just way to thin to be sustainable.
I've tried to glue this, but it only lasts one time. I've since found a much more solid way of resolving this deficiency as this part (GM 15192441) can no longer be purchased new.
To complete your right side tab, cut out an 18mmx40mm rectangle out of the Strong-Tie and from 4mm from one end cut a 13mm x 15mm square centered. I recommend cutting from both sides unless you have a really small cut-off wheel.
You should be left with a tab on the Strong-Tie about 20mm wide. Cut that off at 40mm as well since the left side is slightly wider than the right. Again, from 4mm from one end, cut a 13mm x 15mm square centered.
Align the new tabs in the recesses of the front side of the housing, drill a couple of holes, rivet them together, and snap the nut retainers in. Voila your housing is now far stronger than any factory housing and will last countless dash bezel removals.
Nice job. I have taken that side of the dash apart well over 20 times and the other day I heard some rattling. Sure enough the bottom of the dash trim is completely loose so I'm assuming they both finally let go. I'll be giving this a shot!
