Default H3's full time 4wd

How does the H3's full time 4wd system compare to others, e.g. Quadra Drive II, etc.? Would the H3 be defined as the most capable 4x4 that retains full time 4wd for on the road?

no one is going to like this, but i have both, grand cherokee and an h3 in the driveway. i think quadra drive is the best system out there. that being said, they are both extremely capable for any on road driving in any condition. as when comparing any two different brands, each will have its' on set of advantages. if some one asked me which one i would recommend, i would be hard pressed to choose one. off road its all about learning how your vehicle works, tires and skill.

When I first bought my H3, the Hummer web site had a video of a Hummer H3 losing traction on three wheels, but still climbing up a grade because of the traction from the four wheel
I can't vouch for the other traction systems out there, but I have never had any trouble when going off road.
That may not convince you, but I am impressed with this full time four wheel drive system
and with the vehicle in general.

Most all function the same way now with open diffs and 4-wheel electronic traction control when in automatic 4wd mode. Maybe late model Adventure Package H3's with their additional rear and front mechanical locking diffs could be considered among the ultimate equipped for off-road at any price.

For long term off-road capability, H3 wins overall because of it's body on frame construction.

i would agree except that the grands unit body have been holding up for years in all types of off road conditions. bought our grand new in 04 and the quadra drive has been flawless for 148000 miles. only repair on grand has been a power steering unit. both are outstanding vehicles. off road i think they are equal, neither would out do the other.
