H3 possible heating issue ?
Ok everyone, I hope all you long timers will have and answer for me.
What temps do you all run on average for your 3.7 I5 motors ?????
Just purchased a used 07 H3 Luxury I5 rig. In every way it is a solid running rig.
So here's the Question:
What water temps should I be running ?
I see that the water temp gauge runs a little over "Half" most of the time, but in 85 degree temps today I noticed that the gauge was running at 3/4 on my 6% grade I use to travel to the home---
I never over heated and the H3 ran just fine at that temp and I never heard the clutch fan ramp up but I am nervous that this might be too warm for normal operation.

I know all you vetrans have an answer out there
What is the normal gauge reading when the "clutch fan" engages ???
Is 3/4 hot (too hot) to run at or is this just normal for these H3's ?????
Just need to know if I have a possible problem or not

I have read a few posts on here about this issue, my H3 does not get fully to 3/4 but close on a 90 degree day with the ac on. I have never had a car or truck that didnt move from the middle unless there was a problem, but this seems to be common for the H3. Do a search you will find some posts. Good luck
THis question is very overplayed. These trucks ALL look like they are overheating. But they aren't. Hell my needle goes 3/4 up the gauge sometimes, but thats not overheating. I dont recall the actual temps, but if you hook a gauge up to it, you'll be surprised to see how NOT hot the coolant is at 3/4 gauge capacity.
Thanks all for the answer and i will not worry about it for now. My H3 runs great and except for this worry, has not overheated so I will just watch if this changes at all in the furture.
I never hear the fan clutch engage when warm (I hear it for a short time on start up and quick warm up) so I assumed that the motor was not hot enough to engage the fan and the clutch fan is operating as it should.
No worries === Thanks for the posts
