Thanks mate, it looks great but i don't know about drilling a hole in the guard, i'd have to get someone else to do it. That is exactly what i was going to fit.

 

I had to make up a bracket and also an inside support plate to make it stronger. The base of the UHF ariel also has to be trimmed (linished) as it is pretty tight trying to get it all to fit inside the cover. I think it is worth the effort though as it looks nice and uniform.I am going to try and find another ariel which is closer in look and height to the radio ariel.
