I don't know that I would jump into doing that! The torsion springs give you a solid ride by having a 'pre-load' to them. Remove the pre-load, and you've got yourself a metal rod, not a loaded spring. You would turn your ride into MUSH!

the factory sets the ride height to an engineered specification that fits the design of that vehicle.
in the service manual there is a precise measurement/adjustment to set the vehicle according to spec. it in the center of the suspension travel range, approx.its that way when delivered.

any deviation up or down takes the vehicle out of spec. most owners, for some reason raise their h3 within that range.

if they went to the top there would be no further upward travel left, and same as such going down.

in the center,+- there is always a load on the bars, even when set out of factory spec.

i would guess you could lower it as much as some raise it, or go to the ground!!

You are correct.....MY concern is, if he gets carried away trying to lower it too much, he will go outside of the springs 'working range' limits.

i think you'll find the working range is the weight of the veh set at factory spec. the wt, dont change as it is adjusted up/dn so tension should be same.

the bars are installed as a bar of metal,no tension when the frame is lifted so the wheels hang down held by shocks. the bars are plugged in and the weight loads them. the adjustment sets the factory ride height, same weight

Rear: from the wheel to the fender 25 1/2
front: from the wheel to the fender 24 1/2

I Will post pics tomorrow.
