Does anyone know why the Words on the Headlight Switch do not regularly light up?

I have mine always set to Auto, but I found it strange that only the fog lights button and voice speech button beside it (I think that’s what that is) light up when it’s dark.

So the other day I turned the **** left and gout and somehow everything then lit up at some point (the words “Auto,” the symbols for the headlights on and off, etc.) but then went back off when set tin auto. Now I can’t figure out how to get it back to lightning up.

Anyone have any familiarity with this?

Recently didscovered the all lights off mode also...pretty cool!
