Hi Linus Gump, (cool name...)

I have no doubt you're a very good driver. I also have no doubt that you've taken numerous "defensive driving" course, that have helped you in one way or another... I also doubt thatyou've had to spin a car around 180 degrees withoutstopping it or and without decelerating. I also doubt that you've had to drive over half a mile in reverse while having to negotiate obstacles at a moderately high rate of speed -- I doubt all of those things because none of them are "defensive driving" or are anything that fall into normal (or street legal) driving patterns. I've had to do all of those and more... others that I know that can do those things as well, also drive with two feet (not all but some). Believe me when I say that it become automatic.

As for manual driving, its interesting you mention that. When I had the H2, I also had a Mini Cooper-S. I would switch back and forth fromone to the other, that is from automatic to manual and never missed a beat.

As for action vs. reaction, trust me,let there beno doubt or"perspectives",in a situation that you are not anticipating, action will always beat reaction.

However, like you said and I totally agree...if it works for you (or me) then who is anyone to judge. I like two foot driving, I would neverrecommendit to anyone, teach anyone to do it,or encourage anyone to try it, but it works for me.I won't recommend it any more than I would recommend you begin to write with your left hand if you're right-handed. Only your body can tell you that, and if its says NO, then listen really well, because its not for you, which is what I presume is where most people fall on this issue.

In closing, my point is not to prove that my way is better, or the right way to drive, but I also don't think one foot driving is the only and absolute way to control vehicle. I do believe that I have greater control with two feet than most people have with one. -- Regardless, if you're a one footer, then heck, enjoy, drive safely and live long!

Hi ImportKiller, heyits all cool. I don't take any of this seriously...

In answer to your question, and you can read it from my post to Linus Gump, yes...I have driven manualsfor many years. Ihave the ability (don't ask how I learned it) to switch back and forth and not have any problems.

As for Ohio... I was only kidding - I think Ohio is great. I just said that to kick the ant pile and watch the ants run...[sm=smiley36.gif]

I was not trying to start a pissing contest with you about who has done what with what, I was merely pointing out that I have a vast amount of experience to pull from, both in the real world, and in training. I have done things with semis that would make an average driver faint, and I have done things on closed circuit tracks with cars that are illegal and dangerous on the street, all under the close supervision of highly qualified instructors, most of whom are patrolling the streets in black and white cars when they are not teaching classes. This was all done to show mastery and skill to remain in control of the vehicle under any circumstance. In my opinion, I feel what you are doing has an extra potential to be more dangerous than the conventional method. But like I said, if it works for you and you are safe, then that is all that counts.

Hi Linus Gump,

I understand, and believe me, I don't want to get into "I can do this and I can do that either..." -- that's not why I replied. I merely wanted to point out that "conventional" is not always the only way. I fully agree with you that a lot of what it seems we've both done is dangerous and would make most people squeamish, but I don't feel (and believe meas I'm VERY safety minded for these types of things) that the way I drive is dangerous in any way-IF- you know how to do so. I do believe, however, that it CAN be dangerous if you're not experienced and are foolish enough to try it in traffic.

On the subject of the bigger rigs, I take my hat off to men like you, as I wouldn't even know how to make one of those things go forward for 100 feet at 5 mph. That my friend is truly a skill, and not one I can say I know anything about.

Stay well, drive safely and enjoy the H3.

Dennis, HummerGuy, Zyne and ImportKiller...

I wish I had placed a bet on how may of you were going to reply this way...stereotyping is just so ugly -- try to improve on that in 2007!
I was not stereotyping, I was experiencetyping..Because everyone that I know that is driving with their left foot on the Brake, the brake lights are ALWAYS on.

Good luck to you and hope you never have an incident that you'll have to explain.
