Hello All,

Although I've leased two H3 I-5's in the past, I just bought a 2008 H3 Alpha. It runs great and has alot of extras, but there is one potential issue that is bugging me:

On cold startup's there is a tapping noise coming from somewhere in the drivetrain. I say 'somewhere' because when standing next to the drivers door its fairly noticeable, but if I pop the hood and listen from there, the sound is more 'distant'. After driving it a very short distance, it goes completely away. And following drives that day do not show signs of the sound. Only an overnight cold startup. It has 90k miles on it.

Any ideas?

never had an alpha but, other cars,a leaky exhaust gasket/manifold,"ticks"in some cases. since the engine is the only thing rotating,while you're standing outside its gotta be engine huh?
lifters sometime quiet after warmup too.
90000 huh, ?
