My H3 won't come out of 4 high. I tried backing up pushing buttons every way thinkable. I un hooked drive shaft and unplugged wire harness put drive shaft back in and it felt like it was out but 10 min of driving it went back in

 

Cycle the buttons several times and make sure they are clean and not physically sticking. If that don't work, search Plastic Shift Fork and Actuator Motor. Good Luck

 

If I take the front drive shaft out can I drive it until I can get it fixed?

 

If you are truly stuck in 4-HI lock, then removing the front prop shaft is OK. Fix it ASAP though.
I'll be willing to bet that you have the plastic shift fork issue. GM stopped using the plastic shift fork and went with metal shift forks in later models.
