i thought the alpha thing was partly about a v8 (as in the h1 and h2) and the h2 already has a v8

Not sure but one of the dealers told me GM was considering an Alpha version of the Hummer models and even some heavy duty trucks. Not sure if that is accurate or not but what I was told.

the diesel is supposed to be coming in 2009. personally, i don't think the H2 should get an alpha badge, it's been too diluted by putting it on the H3. call it beta or gamma or something, or just leave it as is.
I agree

I have an H1 Alpha and an H3 Alpha and I agree. I think the Alpha badge should have been for the H1 only.

I agree with 3hummers the alpha badge should have only been on the 1 the 3 doesnt deserve it no offense to anyone, Alpha usually means top dog and on top or number 1 something along the lines of that, Putting the same badge on an h1 and h3 is like punching the h1 in the face

I have no particular emotional attachment to the term alpha. I suppose if youspring for the Duramax diesel/Allison transmission conversion, you've earned the right to put whatever you want on your truck, including an alpha badge.
