Default h1 dies on main tank but runs fine on aux

Like the title says, when ran on main tank the truck will randomly shut off. But on the aux tank it will run fine.

Truck sat for maybe 4 months. Topped off both tanks with fresh fuel and some injection cleaner.

No cel, no other symptoms I can think of. Don't think it can be pmd. Is there 2 fuel pumps? Ie, in tank pumps? What else can I do to diagnose the problem?

2000 h1 turbo 6.5 30k miles.

Thanks a lot.

Should also say the fuel gauge when switched to main fluctuated between empty and full even though I know for a fact it is full. Will die at high, low speed and idle.

I had a PMD going bad and my truck did the same thing. At first it seemed it was only doing it on the one tank. I could even switch from the main tank to the auxillary tank and the engine would smooth and and keep running so there is a possibility it is the beginnings of a PMD failure. That said there are several things it could be. There is a pick-up tube in each tank. The one in the main tank could be picking up some debris in the tank or have come loose. Have you checked to see if you are getting fuel delivery at the fuel pump when on the main tank?

Drove it today, died on aux tank 3 times today, I am hoping for fuel filter, but betting on PMD now, have done one before on an H1 which I sold but didnt relocate it.

How is the SS Diesel relocation kit? Recommended or no?

Haven't used one yet. I prefer the OEM location. The newer PMD's are supposed to last much longer than the old style. You would need a new harness because the connections are different. I think Dave at Blue Hummer sells a relo kit for the PMD.
